Here are six steps to playing bigger in your life:
1. The process matters most. I used to focus on results: if I put forth more effort, I will get more clients, money, fame, etc. I might have achieved what I set out to accomplish, but I also set myself up for possible disappointment if things didn’t work out just the way I imagined. Now I understand that it’s the process that matters. Are you performing at your best? Using your talents fully? With integrity? Have you tuned up your intuition and followed its wisdom? Have you dropped your ego off at the door and led with your heart?
2. You are enough. When you lead from this inner knowing, you are swimming in a bigger pond. When things fall apart, you probably won’t. Drop the “what-ifs”. Worry is your worst enemy. It keeps you stuck. When you get out of your own way, you become much more empowered. You are enough. You are more than enough. Stop listening to those inner (and sometimes outer) voices that tell you otherwise.
3. You don’t need a concrete plan. What you do need is a vision and lots of passion. Your intuition is brilliant and will lead you to take one step after the next towards your greater goals. You do best with a beginner’s mind, not an expert’s. Most successful entrepreneurs have led with a vision, not a “how to” plan. Take that vision, flesh it out and begin to take actions towards accomplishing your resonant goals.
4. Give up control. Surrender. You cannot predict the outcome of most things, so stop trying. If you are following steps 1 through 3, surrender to the Spirits, G-d, the Universe, Wisdom, Allah, whatever you call it, give it up to your version of a higher being. You have done what you were moved to do and what will happen next is exactly what’s supposed to happen.
5. Ask for help. To play bigger, you need help. You are not meant to do this alone. Ask for help often. Being a martyr is not noble. Build your circle of support. Not only will you help yourself, you will be giving a gift by returning the favor to all those whom you have helped in the past.
6. Tune into your Soul Purpose. My soul purpose is to move people to show up fully in their lives and access their unique potential. We all have a need to serve others. That’s what keeps us grounded when we lose track. What’s your soul purpose? Take time to shine the light on your unique soul print. When you live life from that place, you are aligned and alive!
